VETERAN HUNTER
CREATES COMPELLING NEW TURKEY CALLER
March 1999 --
Jackson, LA --- Teacher, author, and recognized
turkey hunting expert, Kenny Morgan, has invented a hand-crafted
turkey caller that has impressed hunters with its highly authentic
duplication of turkey sounds.
A former champion turkey caller, Morgan has launched a new venture
centered around production of the innovative turkey calling
device, which he has dubbed "The Frictionwood Turkey
Caller."
Patent proceedings are under way for this unique and easy-to-use
instrument which operates like a slate caller, has the quality of
a fine wooden box, and sends out a compelling carrier tone like an
old-fashioned wing-bone caller. Precision dimensions and cuts
automatically build realistic turkey notes into the caller.
A small crew of skilled craftsmen carve out each caller from a
single block of fine wood. "The wood types include osage
orange, mahogany, and maple. Strikers are made from hardened and
finished corncobs with inserted cherry or rosewood pegs,"
Morgan explained. "A complete set of detailed instructions on
how to produce a wide variety of turkey call notes are neatly
packaged with each unit, so that everyone from the novice to the
most experienced turkey hunter can become proficient in using this
device to call the wary bird."
Holder of the original patent on tube type callers, his own
"Morgan Caller," Morgan re-introduced this caller in the
spring of 1999 and it too is hand-made from wood.
TURKEY HUNTING - A ONE MAN GAME, Morgan's widely acclaimed book on
turkey hunting, is available in a color hardbacked edition. In the
foreward to Morgan's book, William Yarbrough describes their
special friendship as thus: "The wild turkey is the focus of
this relationship, and no one understands this creature as Ken
does." Yarbrough says,"And this Frictionwood Turkey
Caller sounds more like a turkey than anything I have ever heard.
In fact, it sounds exactly like a wild turkey!"
Morgan's wife, Sally has brightened an old army camouflage pattern
for their signature wrapping paper, and all of their products are
available as gift wrapped items, perfectly suitable for Christmas,
birthdays, and special surprises for the turkey hunter.
The Morgans prefer to let their other products remain a secret for
now, choosing to announce them at the right time. As Kenny says,
"After more than 40 years of hunting turkeys and making my
own stuff, I have a pretty good idea of what is good and what is
not. We have a direct hands-on approach and are going to keep it
that way with our manufacturing process. Right now we have several
quality products on the market about which we are quite
comfortable. Others will be introduced only when we have mastered
their manufacture. You won't find cheap or poorly made products
coming from here."
Morgan's Turkey Callers, LLC has their products available through
several venues, including their website, www.turkeycallers.com,
which displays a viewing of their products, and a listing of
sporting goods retailers who carry Morgan's accessories as well.
